Kiondo baskets are produced in the rural areas of Machakos by five women's self help groups. Mifuko buys beautiful baskets directly from local groups.

The women's main source of income is from agriculture and the baskets are made during evenings and dry periods. Additional income received from the baskets is vital for these women and means that they can feed, educate and buy medicines for their families, during times of drought and harvest failure.

Mifuko´s collaboration with the ladies has begun well - we receive and buy more baskets than we have ordered. This is great and Mifuko is bringing this kiondo baskets to be available for everyone.
